Local residents demand Cockburn Cement clean-up

Member for Cockburn Fran Logan launched a campaign against Cockburn Cement Pty Ltd and the corrosive dust and odour infiltrating the houses of local residents living in suburbs nearby.
Mr Logan joined Shadow Health Minister Roger Cook, Federal Labor Member for Fremantle Melissa Parke and Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett and hundreds of local residents outside the gates of Cockburn Cement, Russell Rd, Munster.

“The number of complaints received by the Department of Environment and Conservation over the past 12 months has increased significantly with more than 50 complaints received so far this year alone,” Mr Logan said.
“Local residents are being forced to put up with white dust coating their cars, roofs and windows, while more ominously, many are coming forward complaining of blood noses, headaches and breathing difficulties.
“Today‟s rally will give residents a voice.”
