Barnett Government shamed into reopening the pool.

The Barnett Government has been shamed into changing its decision to close the hydrotherapy pool at Princess Margaret Hospital for six weeks.

Lakelands mother Amy Edwards was told by hospital staff that her 12-month-old daughter Ruby would not be able to have hydrotherapy treatment for the next six weeks because an employee at Princess Margaret Hospital was going on leave and would not be replaced due to the Barnett Government’s job freeze.

A sign at the entrance, which was still up this morning, made it clear that the pool would be closed until 9 July 2014.

Comments from WA Labor Leader Mark McGowan:

“I am glad the Barnett Government has come to its senses and will now ensure the pool is reopened.

“It is a shame it took a young mother to raise this with the media in order to get the Barnett Government to make the right decision.”
